My first journey into youth ministry began over 15 years ago. I was a summer youth worker my first year out of college. Our church was in a small, East Texas town. My entire youth group consisted of youth from 4 families, which totaled, at most, 6 kids.
When I began the only resources available were friends and colleagues in youth ministry, and books. I am glad that, with the internet, there are now many more resources available for small church youth leaders. Every day I am discovering different blogs and websites with treasure troves of useful ideas and tidbits.
Recently I have stumbled upon Small Church Youth Ministry by Stephanie Caro. She uses her blog to share her experiences and ideas to help small church youth leaders. However, every post I have read so far contains great ideas for youth groups and churches of any size.
Here are some of my favorite posts:
A Follow Up Game Plan for Your Fall Festival – 5 Tips to help you make connections with those visiting your church at this time.
It’s My First Night as a Volunteer. What Do I Do – 5 Tips for new volunteers. This would be great to share at your youth volunteer training or parent meetings.
Last of The Grad Ideas – Senior Sunday may seem far away, but will come up quickly. Here are some out of the ordinary ideas to honor your graduates.
I hope you’ll add Small Church Youth Ministry to your blog reading list, and find it as helpful as I have.
