In my last post I shared how to use ios10 photo memories to make a basic slide show. The post included simple instructions on how to add the photos, choose a theme and length and export the video. The ios 10 memories slide show offers some additional editing options for those who want a little more control over the finished product.
Advanced Edit –
For those who want to play around a little more there is one more layer of editing you can get into. At the very bottom corner of the screen there are some lines with little circles. If you press that you go into the more advanced editing mode. Here’s what you can do.
First it will tell you you must save your video to “memories” click yes.
Then your page will show you the slide show at the top and 4 bars of information.
Title –
Click the arrow to the right and you can change the font style and the text of the title. You still only get 2 lines but you can get creative with that.
Click the left arrow at the top left corner to go back to the editing menu
Music –
Click on the arrow to the right and you will be taken to a page that lists “None”, “Soundtracks” and “My Music”. None obviously means there is no music added. The “My Music” tab takes you to purchased music on your iphone. Depending on your purpose for the video you may use this option. My favorite option though is “soundtracks”. This tab brings up 80 plus instrumental tracks that you can use for your show. They are grouped in categories like Sentimental, Epic and Club. Once you choose your music go back using the top left arrow.
Duration –
If you have a specific amount of time that you would like your video to be this is where you can choose that. This will determine how the phone edits and chooses number and length of videos and photos to include. Again the top left blue arrow takes you back.
Select Photos and Videos –
Click on Photos and videos to select the clips and photos you want. Press the plus sign at the bottom left and you will have the option to select or deselect your media clips and photos. Use the timeline at the bottom to scroll through your clips. Videos will give you the option to select how much of the video you wish to include and you can toggle the sound button at the bottom right of the on screen clip to either increase the volume, keep it the same or mute the volume.
When you are done then go back to the finish and preview and then export steps listed in the previous post.
