Have you started planning for 2015? This year is closing down as Christmas approaches. However, even before most Christmas decorations come down, we’ll be back into weekly youth ministry programming, retreats and not to mention deadlines for summer camps and trips.
This year, instead of planning a month or two ahead of time, we decided to plan the entire spring of events and studies. Here’s how we came up with it all.
1. We got our youth leadership team, youth grades 8-12, together for a brainstorm, evaluation, planning session. We talked about what has worked well, what needs to change, sermon series ideas, fun events, outreach events, etc…
2. My youth assistant and I wrote all the Sundays and Wednesdays between now and the end of June on a white board. We then started prioritizing and then filling in what was where.
3. We then had a few parents come in and look at it just to see any major conflicts. Also one of our staff works at a local high school and we talked about conflicts like prom, graduation, etc…
4. I then put everything into a brochure and sent it to about 10 more parents. They made a few suggestions and comments.
5. Finally we printed the brochure, along with a monthly newsletter and mailed them out to all of our students.
Here is a link to our January Newsletter and Spring 2015 Brochure. I created both as pages documents. Message me your email and I would be glad to send those to you for you to use in your group.
Would love to have the brochure and newsletter template to use. Thanks.
Leah, can you send me your email. Either direct message on twitter @min2youth or facebook.com/ministry2youth or email rgmmusic@gmail.com
