Have you given up on Facebook as a way to reach your youth? According to a Time magazine article teens are not leaving the social media site after all. Despite a slight dip in use Facebook is almost the most used social network according to a recent article on Forrester. This means we might want to rethink abandoning Facebook as a way to reach not only parents but teens. Forrester conducted a survey of over 4500 teens age 12-17 and asked them which social media networks they used, and used often (hyper-used). The results backed up the findings that Facebook was the highest in adoption and use. The other interesting finding is that Youtube actually outranks Facebook in adoption.
For me as a youth director this means a few things.
1. Don’t give up on Facebook. At least not yet.
2. Find ways your youth group can use youtube.
