Here’s a simple art project your youth group can do. Our girls just finished up a Bible study called “Women of the Bible” from Download Youth Ministry. The last lesson was talking about Leah and how God takes our hurts, pains, disappointments and turns them into a beautiful mosaic.
At the end of the study each of the girls got the opportunity to make their own mosaic, with a twist. Here’s how we did it.
1. Go online and find several simple line drawings you would like to use for your mosaic.
2. Use a program that will allow you to tile the photos. We used publisher. Blow the photos up so they take up 9 pieces of paper.
3. Print out each sheet and put the sheets inside the photo frames.
4. Provide tissue paper and mod lodge (or other adhesive) and have students create their mosaic. Make sure they define any lines that appear on their photo. (note… You could specify a color that everyone use for the lines. We did not do this but it would look good either way)
5. After students are done with their individual photos, lay them out so that each of the students mosaics come together to make the larger mosaic.
We took each of these and put them on the walls of our youth center.
