When I was blogging about worship leading, I was part of a worship blog carnival. We shared each week what songs we sang, and how our worship service went. We were able to share thoughts, gather ideas and learn from each other. I though this might work for youth ministry as well.
Each Thursday I’ll start a new post. I’ll include what we did on Wednesday, or Sunday. In the comments you can leave a link to your blog about how your weekly youth event went, or you can just write it in the comments. Share resource links, thoughts, ideas and questions.
Impact Youth Ministry – Wednesday 11/14/2012
Our Wednesday night program is where we do our small groups. A typical night looks like this.
5:30 – Youth begin to arrive
5:45 – Snack supper
6:15 – Opening activity/Game
6:30 – Small Group Time
7:30 – Closing and Dismiss
Our Small group time begins with a few worship songs, tonight we sang “Every Move I Make” and “Our God” We then played a power play game “Amazing But True” from one of the Simply Youth Ministry Power Play Downloads. activity and then the small group lesson.
We are currently using Simply Student Ministry’s Live Curriculum “Jesus Centered Life”. Today we did lesson #5. They curriculum calls for a video clip from Spiderman. The full clip is available on youtube.
The curriculum has opportunities built in for youth to share some how they were affected by a miracle, or a time God moved in their life. I had each youth share with their table, then each table chose someone to come up and share on stage, using the microphone.
We closed by singing “God of Wonders” and then closed with the MYF Benediction.
And then it was “Scatterball” which has become a favorite game.
So what about you. How did your weekly youth program go? Share or leave a link in the comments below.
